The OM System PEN 14-42mm III Kit pairs the PEN mirrorless camera with the M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 III Lens to create a lightweight system for day-to-day photography. 20.4MP sensor and TruePic IX processing
A 20.4MP Four Thirds Live MOS sensor works with the TruePic IX image processor to capture detailed still images with enough resolution for larger prints and flexible cropping. A Supersonic Wave Filter provides image sensor dust reduction when changing lenses.

121-point phase-detection autofocus
The focusing system combines 121 cross-type phase-detection AF points with 121 contrast-detection AF points. This hybrid arrangement is designed to provide fast and reliable focusing across a wide range of everyday subjects, with multiple target sizes and four custom AF target settings available.

AI detection for people and pets
AI Subject Detection AF can recognise humans and pets, helping the camera maintain focus when photographing subjects that may not remain still. This complements the camera's phase-detection focusing system for spontaneous photographs, pets and everyday activity.

Built-in 5-axis image stabilisation
Five-axis sensor-shift image stabilisation is built into the camera body, helping reduce the effect of camera movement during handheld photography. Because stabilisation is provided at the sensor, it remains available independently of optical stabilisation in the attached lens.

Custom colour and monochrome profiles
Four adjustable Colour Profiles and four adjustable Monochrome Profiles allow photographers to develop a consistent visual style in-camera. Colour controls, monochrome filters and profile adjustments can be used alongside preset looks for more control over the appearance of photographs and video.

Creative photography without extra accessories
Built-in creative functions include Live ND, HDR, High Res Shot Mode, Focus Stacking and Focus Bracketing. Live Bulb, Live Time and Live Composite provide additional options for working with long exposures, while 16 Art Filters and six Scene Modes offer quicker approaches to different subjects and styles.

Electronic viewfinder and vari-angle screen
An eye-level OLED electronic viewfinder with approximately 2.36 million dots provides a dedicated view for composing photographs. The rear 3.0-inch vari-angle touchscreen has approximately 1.04 million dots, giving additional flexibility when shooting from high, low or front-facing positions.

Video, Slow and Quick recording
The OM System PEN records MOV video using MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and includes dedicated Slow and Quick recording options. Colour and monochrome profiles can also be applied when recording video, while the external microphone jack allows compatible microphones to be connected for improved audio capture.

Versatile 14-42mm everyday zoom
The included OM System M.Zuiko Digital 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 III Lens provides a 28-84mm full-frame equivalent range. This covers wide-angle compositions through to short-telephoto framing, giving everyday photographers useful flexibility without regularly changing lenses.

Compact retractable lens design
The 14-42mm lens uses a retractable construction to reduce its size when stored. Its compact design suits a camera intended to be carried regularly, while MSC autofocus provides fast and practically silent focusing for both still photography and video recording.

13cm close focusing
A minimum focusing distance of 13cm gives the supplied zoom additional flexibility for photographing food, objects, travel details and other smaller subjects at close range. The lens also accepts 46mm filters and uses an optical construction of eight elements in seven groups.

Splashproof camera and lens pairing
The camera body carries an IPX1 protection marking when used with an OM SYSTEM splashproof lens. The supplied 14-42mm III lens has a dustproof construction and IPX1-equivalent splashproof performance, providing additional reassurance when shooting outdoors in changing conditions.
