The OM System PEN Body brings the PEN concept into a compact interchangeable-lens camera designed around photography that fits naturally into daily life. Its lightweight body combines a 20.4MP Live MOS sensor, TruePic IX processing, advanced autofocus and built-in stabilisation with extensive creative controls for photographers who want more flexibility than a fixed-lens camera can offer.

Available in Silver or Black, the camera is designed for everyday shooting, travel, urban photography, social content and photographers who want to develop a distinctive photographic style without carrying a larger camera system.

20.4MP Live MOS sensor and TruePic IX processing
At the centre of the OM System PEN Body is a 20.4MP 4/3 Live MOS sensor paired with the TruePic IX image processor. This combination provides the resolution needed for detailed photographs while giving photographers flexibility for cropping and producing larger images.

A Supersonic Wave Filter forms part of the camera's sensor dust reduction system, helping to reduce dust contamination when changing interchangeable lenses.

121-point phase-detection autofocus
The PEN uses a high-speed imager autofocus system combining phase-detection and contrast-detection AF. Its 121 cross-type phase-detection points are joined by 121 contrast AF points, giving photographers multiple focusing area options for different compositions and subjects.

AF target choices include All Target, Normal and Small Single Target areas, 5-area Cross Target, 9-area Middle Target and 25-area Large Target. Custom AF targets can also be configured, with up to four custom target settings available to save.

AI Subject Detection AF for people and pets
AI Subject Detection AF adds automated recognition for humans and pets, helping the camera identify and maintain focus on commonly photographed everyday subjects. Combined with phase-detection autofocus, this makes the PEN better suited to spontaneous situations where there may be little time to position an AF point manually.

Built-in 5-axis image stabilisation
A built-in 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilisation system helps compensate for camera movement while shooting handheld. This is particularly useful for everyday photography, travelling light and working in situations where using a tripod would be impractical.

Creative photography without extensive editing
The OM System PEN Body includes a broad selection of computational and creative photography functions directly within the camera. These include High Res Shot Mode, HDR, Live ND, Focus Stacking and Focus Bracketing, giving photographers additional ways to approach detail, movement, depth and difficult lighting conditions.

Live ND can be used to create the appearance of a longer exposure in brighter conditions, while Focus Stacking combines different focus positions in-camera to extend the area of apparent sharpness. High Res Shot Mode provides an additional option when greater image detail is required.

Colour Profile Control
Colour Profile Control provides four adjustable colour profiles for developing a personalised look in-camera. Photographers can work with 12 colour controls and five adjustment options, alongside Film Rich Colour, Film Soft Colour, Film Vivid and Standard presets.

Custom profiles can be used to create repeatable colour treatments for different subjects or styles, reducing the need to recreate the same look during post-production.

Monochrome Profile Control
For black and white photography, four adjustable monochrome profiles provide six colour filters and seven adjustment controls. Film B&W, Film IR, Film Low Contrast and Standard presets provide starting points that can then be adapted to suit individual preferences.

Colour and monochrome profiles can also be applied when recording video, allowing a consistent visual treatment to be carried between still photography and moving images.
Share custom presets

Customised presets can be shared through the OI.Share app, making it possible to exchange creative settings and reproduce preferred colour or monochrome treatments across compatible workflows.

16 Art Filters and six Scene Modes
Six Scene Modes provide ready-made settings for different photographic situations, while 16 Art Filters offer additional options for creating a more distinctive in-camera appearance. These sit alongside the camera's standard exposure modes for photographers who want to move between straightforward automatic shooting and more manual control.

Live Composite and long-exposure photography
Live Bulb, Live Time and Live Composite provide dedicated options for working with longer exposures. Live Composite is particularly useful when building an exposure from changing areas of light, while Live Bulb and Live Time provide more accessible control over extended shutter times.

These modes expand the PEN beyond straightforward daytime photography and provide additional creative options for light trails, night scenes and other long-exposure subjects.

Electronic viewfinder and vari-angle touchscreen
An eye-level OLED electronic viewfinder with approximately 2.36 million dots provides a dedicated shooting experience when photographers prefer composing away from the rear screen.

The 3.0-inch vari-angle monitor uses an electrostatic capacitance touchscreen and offers approximately 1.04 million dots. Its articulated design provides additional flexibility when composing from high, low or unconventional angles.

Photo and video controls in one camera
Alongside still photography, the OM System PEN Body records MOV video using MPEG-4 AVC/H.264. Dedicated Movie and Slow & Quick modes provide additional creative options for moving-image content, while Colour and Monochrome Profile Controls can also be used to establish a particular visual style.

A microphone jack allows an external microphone to be connected when improved audio capture is required, making the camera suitable for vlogging and other video-led content as well as still photography.

Compact design for everyday use
The body measures approximately 125.8mm wide, 74.5mm high and 43.3mm deep, excluding protrusions according to CIPA standards. It weighs approximately 344g body only, increasing to 393g with one BLS-7 battery and one memory card fitted.

This relatively compact design makes the PEN practical for photographers looking for an interchangeable-lens camera that can be carried regularly rather than reserved for dedicated photography trips.

IPX1 splash protection
The OM System PEN Body carries an IPX1 protection marking when used together with an OM SYSTEM splashproof lens. This provides added reassurance when shooting outdoors in changing conditions, although the specified protection depends on pairing the body with a suitable splashproof lens.
