The optical design of this lens comprises 15 elements in 12 groups. This includes four special glass LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements that effectively mitigate the tendency of light rays to diverge, providing excellent correction for both spherical and chromatic aberrations. The BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) coating significantly reduces ghosting and flare, ensuring the finest details of the subject are captured with exceptional clarity and precision, even in backlit conditions. Furthermore, this lens delivers outstanding macro performance, allowing you to capture beautiful images when used with APS-C format cameras, where the equivalent focal length is approximately 135mm, while the minimum aperture remains at F2.8.

Additionally, the lens suppresses vignetting in the corners of the image. New lens hood design
A new structural lens hood is included, featuring a built-in sliding window for easy filter operation. PL, ND, and cross-screen filters often need to be rotated to adjust their effects mid-shoot, requiring the removal of the camera's hood. To counteract this, the new design permits photographers to conveniently rotate the filter through a sliding window. This enables smooth and precise adjustment without interrupting the shooting process.

Faster AF
A focus limiter switch offers faster focusing during AF shooting and quick refocusing for enhanced subject-tracking performance.

Workflow friendly
To enhance convenience and usability, this lens includes a focus set button that allows you to assign camera functions and customise via the TAMRON Lens Utility software. It also features a precise VXD linear motor mechanism for accurate manual focus operation. Additionally, the lens boasts a moisture-resistant construction and a fluorine coating, which improve its resistance to adverse weather conditions.
