A smooth focusing ring allows you to quickly and accurately get macro shots without having to wait for any autofocus searching, giving you super sharp images even wide open. The lens consists of 8 elements in 7 groups, including 2 ultra-low dispersion (UD) elements to help counteract aberrations and improve overall image quality. 
Excellent centre sharpness, no colour fringing, and a lack of vignetting make for sharp and contrasting images with a good depth of field. A 1:1 magnification lets you capture life-sized images of subjects brilliant for insect photography or close-up nature shots.
